EBONY or MICARTA for fingerboard overlay?

Hey all,

 Just curious your thoughts on Micarta vs ebony for fingerboard overlay. The Ebony is almost 3 times the cost of the micarta. 

Love to get your opinion. I know on two of my guitars they are Richlite which I believe is just a brand name for micarta or something very similar...
