In 1975 my son's father and I built a dulcimer from a Folk Life kit purchased from a music store in Portland, OR. Over the years, making music on it was something I enjoyed doing. I didn't know anyone else who played, so it was something I did on my own, mostly making up songs and picking out melodies in the noter style. In 2008, after moving from Portland to Pendleton, OR, I attended Heidi Mueller and Bob Webb's first workshop in Joseph, OR where I was introduced to reading TAB. A few years later, I joined Desert Aire Dulcimers in Hermiston, OR and have been playing regularly with them. Since that first workshop, I've attended several others, including Dulcimer Week in the Wallowas.
