Thank you everyone for the welcomes. I recently acquired a Dulcimer Factory travel dulcimer. I thought I was buying it for the grandkids for when they ask to play my McSpadden, but I find I'm rather charmed with it. I have damage to my thumb joints and the reach is so much easier on me. It needs cleaned and new strings. I have a couple of questions I'm hoping for help with.
1. The bridge is 'canted' with what appears to be a small peg under the D string. Does anyone know if this is factory or an adjustment someone made?
2. There are low and high holes in the tuning pegs and some strings are wound in the lower and some in the higher. Which is right when I re-string?
I was also curious about string gauge on the shorter VSL, but I've already ordered a set of 'John Pearse® Plucked' and I'm hoping they'll work.
