I was all set to buy my first dulcimer but wanted to see if I could get hands on lessons from anyone in the New York City area-no luck. So the question is: will I be able to learn this instrument from videos like the Dulcimer school? Maybe I can get Skype lessons. I could get guitar or ukelele lessons but would rather learn the dulcimer. I play piano but have never played a string instrument before and the dulcimer supposedly has an easier learning curve. Any input?
Welcome to FOTMD, Mark! I'd be happy to correspond with you about dulcimer purchases, having bought many over the years. Go to my page and click the Follow button. I'm sure the Beginners group will be helpful, as well.
Welcome Mark to Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. Glad you joined. This is a great place to learn all about the dulcimer. Best wishes on your dulcimer journey. I'll send a private message to address your question about an instrument.
Hi Herman, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.
