Humidifiers For Dulcimers? Essential Or Not?

The thought occurred to me today when I re-moistened my acoustic guitar humidifiers, and the one for my arch back electric guitar.

My PA climate is dry in the winter, plus I had a situation about 12 years ago. I started to hear a strange vibration inside my Martin acoustic. Turns out that some of the bracing came loose. I called Martin, and they referred me to a local certified repairman. Luckily, the repair was covered under warranty. He highly recommended a humidifier, and I took his advice.

How many of you folks use a humidifier for your dulcimers? After all, most dulcimers have bracing too. Although, they are only effective if you keep the instrument in a case.
