My Blue Lion IIR with dogwood inlays. About 20 years ago I went into a local music store to get some banjo strings and looking around spotted the Blue Lion. Asked about the price and they said it was on consignment and $500 was they lowest they could go. I asked about a case and yes, it came with the fitted hardshell case. Lucky for me I had enough $$ in my account and went home with the best dulcimer I could imagine owning. It had every possible option including the purfling and binding, gloss finish, fretboard inlay and peghead roses, gold hardware, and a Baggs pickup. My luckiest day ever. Recently I checked on what the current price with the options would be - came out to about $3200 plus the case - and a 2 year wait. Dulcimers are great, over-the-top dulcimers are even better. The Blue Lion and my Dennis Dorogi T model (I had to talk him into making one more MD before he retired and moved on to other things) are the two I would never part with. Cheers

Hi Spoefish, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.

It's great to have you Spoefish. Welcome to Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. This is a wonderful community of great dulcimer folks. If you have questions be sure to ask. We are here to support each other.
Welcome to FOTMD, Spoefish. It's good to have you aboard. I, too, have a very nice Blue Lion dulcimer. They are great instruments. Have fun exploring this site. Let us know if you have any questions. Don't hesitate to jump in to these discussions. I look forward to your participation here. I must admit that even after living in Maryland and for 10 years or so I never heard of Mayo, MD. I had to look it up.
