Arthur Dixon was my great-grandfather. He passed before I was born but I remember seeing his basement workshop, unfortunately without most tools when I was little. I have two of his dulcimers I have found online and brought back to the family. I am also in North Carolina
Glad you joined. Welcome Steve Cobb to Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer from a fellow North Carolinian. Like Kenl suggested a donation to the Museum in Hindman KY would be a worthy consideration or perhaps to the collection at Berea College in Berea KY.
Hi Steve, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.
Welcome to FOTMD, Steve. If you can post some photos of your dulcimer we might be able to help you out. Not to cheat this site out of a donation, you might consider donating it to the Appalachian Dulcimer Museum in Hindman, KY. It would be a great addition to the collection since it is made by a nearby dulcimer maker. I can give you contact information, etc. if you find you are interested in pursuing this route.
