The dreaded dotted note - Ashogan Farewell
I am working on "Ashogan Farewell" and it sounds fine in my living room (slow, but nice). I am going to have a challenge when I go to play this with others as I know that I am not really counting precisely - particularly on the dotted quarter notes followed by an eighth note. I just sort of play what sounds nice when I'm alone.
The way I was taught to count music was the one-and, two-and stuff. That doesn't work so well when the brain is also processing fret 2, fret 1.
I am wondering if there is a verbal pattern that I can use to get the timing right.
How do others get this conquered?
