Farewell to Whiskey - Ledford Dulcimer
I was looking on the Jam 'N Folk web site this evening for some inspiration for a new tune to have a go at and 'Farewell to Whiskey' caught my eye. I'd not heard the tune before so I printed out the TAB and had a look around YouTube for examples of folk playing the piece. There were some clips of US mandolin players and string bands playing it quickly but there were also a couple of Scottish fiddlers who had posted videos of the tune played slowly and with that particular phrasing that is unique to Scottish folk music. So I've had a go at producing a 'Scottish' arrangement for noter drone dulcimer that differs slightly in phrasing to the TAB on Jam N' Folk and adds grace notes.
It is played on my staple fretted Ledford tuned 1-5-8-5.
