It's a cold dayat the end ofFebruary 1915 and Lt Tommy Hargreaves is in his dugout in the reserve trenches waiting for a message to come through from HQ about the next 'big push'. He arrived in France from England two days ago with the first British Territorial division to be deployed to the Front. Despite their high moral on leaving Blighty the two cold realities of trench warfare warare just beginning to dawn on Tommy and his men - abject boredom interspersed with moments of utter terror. Before he left home Tommy asked Daisy if she would marry him when he came home from the war. At the time, he told her she didn't need to give him her answer right away - but now he wished he had been more forthright and asked for an answer there and then. Not knowing was weighing on his mind and he couldn't stop thinking about her as the Morse code receiver beside him sprang into life....
