Toxic Wood!

Just wanted to remind everyone that some exotic woods can be toxic. I just finished my latest dulcimer project last week out of lace wood, cumaru, sycamore and Brazilian cherry. I worked in my garage in all this heat without air conditioning, sweating away while sanding away and getting dusty. I knew enough to wear a respirator (from prior discussions on this list) but ended up with contact dermatitis several days after the fact because of the wood powder that stuck to my sweaty skin. Just spent several hours waiting to see my doc to get a prescription for a prednisone "standard 12-day taper" to calm my raging mast cells! Guess I'm just going to have to air condition my shop!
