Johnny B Goode

When I was first learning to play the guitar, one of the first books I got was "Chuck Berry ... Anthology," and I learned many of the songs in it. I was just strumming the chords at the time, not doing the fancy instrumental breaks.

The dulcimer is a natural rock & roll instrument, and Johnny B Goode is a natural song for it. Easy to play. As Mr. Berry himself said in another song, "It's got a back beat. You can't lose it."

The instrumental sections took a little longer to work out. Otherwise, this tribute would have been posted much sooner after his passing last month.

Played on my "Black Wolf" electric dulcimer by Rod Matheson, tuned DAD, in the key of E.
