My Fret Saw Jig
I have put dulcimer kits together but the came with slots for the frets already cut. I am now going to try cutting my own. I saw that great DIY Fret Saw but I don't need to make a lot of fret boards but only a maybe a couple. I bought a plastic Rafter/Speed Square from Harbor Freight for $3.99 and cut it down smaller and bolted on a piece of aluminum angle. My saw is from Stew Mac and I bolted a piece of 1/4" Plexiglass to it for a depth stop. My flat building board is raised on a couple of short 2x4s on the ends so I can clamp to it. I plan on clamping the fret board to it after I mark the fret locations using a C. B. Getty plastic template. Then I'll clamp my fret sawing guide to it before sawing. Not sure if it will be a dulcimer or a dulcimer fretted cigar box guitar.
