Noter/drone article in Dulcimer Players News
At the risk of self promotion, or tootin' my own horn, I wanted to mention that the issue of Dulcimer Players News (DPN) with the article I submitted last summer has been mailed out by DPN, BACK TO THE FUTURE: Modern Encounters with Traditional Playing Styles and Instruments .
But even more than mentioning the article I wanted to acknowledge that in writing it I approached the topic from the standpoint of the novice that I am and as a result I had a lot of input from many on this forum: Strumelia, Dulcimore Dan, Robin Thompson, Robin Clark, Bobby Ratliff, Kevin Messinger, John Knopf, and Don Pedi.
As I wrote in the article, "There were others that I would have liked to have consulted with, but time and space compelled me to limit my data gathering. " So, my apologies to those I did not specifically use as a resource (though no one has complained). Just know that everyone's regular postings were of much help too, even if subliminally...
The goal of the article was to stimulate interest and discussion on noter/drone and other traditional styles of dulcimer playing (and hopefully DPN will run more articles on this topic). Without a doubt I learned a lot from the many email discussions with the folk mentioned above and the general discussions on this forum.
