DAda or CGcG tuning string gauges and intonation

Hi everyone,

I'm discovering 4 ED and DAda (or is it DAdA?) tuning with n/d and really like this! I am experimenting with which tuning I prefer though - either CGcG or the DAdA tuning. I would appreciate advice for what string gauges you 'all would recommend:

1. C tuning, McSpadden (27")

2. D tuning, McSpadden 

3. C tuning shorter scale, Blue Lion (26")

4. D tuning Blue Lion

And I'm guessing I should tune the tonic to the melody string 3rd fret, then tune the drones to this?
