New strings

I am getting ready to replace my strings for the first time. Looking for size(thickness) and brand recommendations. If it makes any difference, I generally play chord melody style but occasionally do noter drone style and fingerstyle. Seems like I remember once being told that your playing style is something to consider when picking out strings.
