Hughes kits

Hi, i see a lot of Hughes Kit dulcimer for sale for reasonable prices, and read in previous threads that while rustic looking, they have good intonation.

I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of wood they were usually made out of?  I’m referring to the elliptical teardrop style, with the guitar style tuning head, not the hourglass, though I would like to know that too, I guess.
