Rebuilds
One thing I have wondered about is refurbishing old dulcimers, or especially rebuilding/upgrading student model dulcimers. I know guitarists do it a lot, but I haven't heard a whole lot about it from the dulcimer community. Is it an economically worthwhile endeavor? Or has it ever yielded great results for anyone? I would imagine it would mostly consist of replacing strings and hardware ( bridge, nut, tuners), redoing the set-up, and, if need be, repairing any body damage there may be, and a new coat of paint or sealant.
I don't presently have any plans, but I do thing it would be a fun thing to try someday.
