Revisiting an old build of my own...

One of my early builds was for my older sister--I'm guessing this was in the mid-80's.  My sister died a year ago, and her daughter asked if I would get some new strings for it, and replace the wooden pegs with some kind of mechanical tuners... she wants to take lessons & learn to play it!

So, I did that.  It was kind of fun, revisiting it.  It was a little "weathered", but not too bad.  I removed the pegs n strings... scuffed up the old finish and wiped on 2 coats of tung oil varnish... got some new strings & tuners... and re-assembled last night.

I'd thought about using simple, open-style guitar tuners in future builds [probably still a year or more away from getting back into that], and figure to change peg-head style significantly for that.  So I'm not real keen on how these look, but they seem to work smoothly... they're simple... and my niece will have an easier time learning to play.  Good enough for now.

keepin' on...
