Thinking of building a lap dulcijo!

So, I can't get it out of my head to try making a dulcijo for fun! Thinking of Eastern Cedar body, or maybe custom cabinet grade maple plywood. The thing that worries me is the shorter scale, due to the size of the drum pad, and a reliable fret template!! Help!!
