Bonaparte Crossing the Rhine
My friend Chris came over this evening so I opened a bottle of wine and we played another "Kitchen Session". Chris said he had been learning a great tune "Bonaparte Crossing the Rhine" so he showed me the tune on his tenor guitar and I spent an hour or so learning it from him. I wanted to have a go at using a vertical quill noter/drone (aka Jean Ritchie) and thought this slow waltz would be ideal so I playedthe tuneon my Prussia Valley Box Dulcimer which hasa pure diatonic fretboard. I tuned down a tone to match Chris tenor guitar, so the tune is in the key of C. Listen to the recording of our session I think that the tone has a really old quality to it using noter and vertical quill.
