Which builder for a brighter more traditional voice?

Does anyone recommend a particular builder for a custom instrument to be played only noter drone with the aim for a bit brighter voice than so many of the current offerings with a more mellow or guitar like voice?

I thought I had seen this before but did not have any success doing a search. And I may have asked it even!
