have some questions about dulcimer care and getting started

hello all, my first post here and have some questions.i just bought a mcspadden m12-w special should be here Tuesday. mcspadden told be it was made about 1978 and it has not been used in years, 

my question is what should i use to clean and moisturize the wood ?

and what strings and gauge should i use and what tuning ?

i am very fond of Jessica Comeau and that style of playing and music , that is my end goal .lol i am comeing to the dulcimer from 5 string banjo so not sure how big a transition this is going to be.
