Bill Davis kits

Has anyone had the experience of assembling a Bill Davis kit?

I just got one that I am pretty sure is one of his assembled kits

Were the fret locations precut?

Measuring the distance from nut to 7th fret is about 14.05" but working both ways from there shows some variations. Any thoughts?
