What are the tedious parts of dulcimer building?
Hello skilled craftsmen, I've heard some people say that it takes them very long amounts of time to build a dulcimer in interviews. Often in the range of weeks. I build dulcimers very poorly, and mine only take a handful of hours. I've built a few in less than an hour, and most that I've built took less than 3 hours of actual work, outside of drying stains and glue, or the time I sit there imagining it before I start cutting
I know that I build low quality dulcimers, which is why I'm so curious about what is taking all that time on a high quality dulcimer.
I'd love to know how long it takes you to build a dulcimer and which things tend to take a lot of time.
Thanks for any input
