Help I've never built an instrument not touched a dulcimer
I've done some woodworking but never built an instrument. Although I enjoy music, I never learned to play any instrument. That said, I've come into a partially completed dulcimer and an inventory of instrument wood. Much of the wood consists of bookmatched pairs. One thought I had was that maybe I could find a luthier who woud finish this dulcimer and possibly consider the wood in barter. Another thought was to buy a kit and build one from a kit with instructions before trying to resume work on the one pictured below. I feel like it would be easy for me to screw up this instrument which looks to be well-built so far. I welcome any advice on how best to get this instrument to completion and perhaps i can learn to play it a little. I'm in Phoenix, Arizona and I am aware of the Roberto Venn school here but have not reached out to them. Signing up for a 5 month course through them doesn't seem like it would be in the cards for me. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
