The Blackest Crow - Ed Thomas Replica - D,A,A - Thumb Strum
I've been working on the 'thumb strum' as shown in Jean Ritchie's 'The Dulcimer Book' and also refered to by John Mawhee, and felt that 'The Blackest Crow' seemed to suit this gentle right hand technique. So I recordedthe tunethis evening on my Zoom H2. The dulcimer is my Ed Thomas replica by John Knopf. The tuning is D,A,A. The dulcimer is strung with piano wire (#8 for the bass and #4 for the middle and melody - 0.020, 0.013, 0.013) - the noter is a river reed.
