Shove the Pig's Foot - Galax dulcimer and Fiddle

We had a few friends over for dinner tonight and after a good few bottles of wine were consumedthe instruments came out I've done a lot of playing dulcimer with banjo but not had much chance at all to work with a good fiddler. Janet, who came over this evening, is a pretty tidy old time fiddler so we played a few tunes. I've always wanted to have a go at playing a Galax and fiddle duet after finding the photo above of Fred Cockerham and Raymond Melton playing a set at the Brandywine Mountain Music Convention in 1974. So I found out my Don Neuhauser Galax (once owned by Bonnie Russell) and Janet and I had a shot at 'Shove the Pig's Foot...' in the key of G. I recorded it in my Zoom H4 that was sitting on the coffee table in the lounge. We've not played together before so this recording still has some bark left on the tree!
