Sound Hole Help

Hi all, Its me again.

I need some help with sound holes, Im making a folk craft teardrop dulcimer. It is 7 wide at the widest part, I have found some pictures of what I want to use.

The problem is Im not sure what size they should be, would someone take a look at these two pictures and tell me which one would be the right size, or whether neither one is right.

The instructions say the width of the sound holes should not exceed the diameter of a U.S. QUARTER .
