"There is no maker's mark on the inside that I can see."
Welcome to FOTMD Twanda. One of the early catalogers of mountain dulcimers typed them by shape. Certain regions offered a particular shape. There is a good deal of information here about mountain dulcimer history. There are some rules to classification of instruments which need to be followed when discussing dulcimers. It helps to learn them. There are also strongly held ideas by some folks on what characteristics make a dulcimer. Have fun learning.

Different types and styles of mountain dulcimers and the geographic areas where the different ones were the most common. Please ask if you have questions. We are here to help any way we can.
