Hi Xo Chip, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.
Thanks everyone for the kind words and warm reception.
Rob, thank you much. I'm likely to mostly lurk in the beginning. Given the unexpected welcome messages, you seem like a real nice community here.
Ken, thanks for the welcome. I shall aim not to disappoint.
Richard, it is most definitely a journey. The yearning to make music is a sort of "poor man's mental/emotional health maintenance" for me. Maybe some day I will confidently say "I play the mountain dulcimer/guitar/mandolin/ukulele/fiddle/didgeridoo....what-have-you", but even if I never do, noodling around with musical instruments can be a wonderful alternative to wailing in despair out of existential angst. But may that's just me? In other words, your mileage may vary.
