i believe folkcraft bought folkroots out some years ago and continued to make the folkroot instruments.
Folkroots
Will do Ken I'm kinda excited but don't want to look on that site again, 5 dulcimers is enough
Folkcraft has produced a Folkroot model for at least a couple years. Dulcimers come up on Shopgoodwill quite a bit. But no one there can answer any questions about the instrument, and shipping is invariably expensive. Good luck with your purchase. Once you have it, you can contact Michael Rugg and get complete info on when it was build, woods, etc....
Found a wonderful diamond in the rough. On Shopgoodwill.com they have various musical instruments. I found a 1980 Folkroot dulcimer Rugg and Jackel actually won the bid for $28.00 however shipping from Ontario is 29.00 But might still be a good instrument. Folkcraft was Folkroots originally and Folkcraft is considering bring back the Rugg and Jackel. So if anyone needs a dulcimer this is a good site
