Thanks dulcimer people for your welcomes. I'm not new to the dulcimer, but still challenged as a player. I was inspired by Richard Farina's music to buy a Homer Ledford dulcimer back in the sixties. A very nice instrument after I sorted out the misplaced first fret. Staple frets, so drill two new holes and shift the fret. Not currently playable because of failed glue joints. I've had a nice Blue Lion for several years now. I play in a rudimentary fashion by picking melody and alternating drones sort of haphazardly. Mostly dad these days. Early on I played in ggc and cgc from the Jean Ritchie book. Tunes do come a little easier these days. Things like Angeline the Baker and Sandy River Belle seem to just come off the fretboard naturally. I also struggtle with guitar, banjo and concertina. Its more relaxing to just sit down with the dulcimer pick out something comfortable. I still love the sound. I really admire the playing ability of people on this site. Thanks again for the nice welcome. All Thumbs
Greetings from Vermont y'All Thumbs and welcome to the site. You need one of those to play the dulcimer, so it's not all bad. Hopefully you can find someone too who plays down that way, or a group to join. That was the biggest help for me right off, then tons of help here.
Hello and welcome to the site. This is a great place to share ideas and listen to music. I hope you enjoy!
