DADGAD Guitar

Adventures with 'other' instruments...

I just realized that I wrote out taro patch tuning bass ackwards. It should be DGDGBD.

DADGAD Guitar

Adventures with 'other' instruments...

Nice! I've recently started learning slack key or taro patch guitar and love the laidback, relaxed feel and have pondered how it would pair up with dulcimer or strum stick.                                                 (GDGDBD)

My favorite pick is made of felt. You will find them used by bass guitar players. They start out just a bit too stiff but soon soften up on the point and really make for nice full, non clacky, strumming.

Have you met other FOTMD's in real life and become friends?

OFF TOPIC discussions

I have really enjoyed meeting the Wartz attendees. Too many names to remember but good souls all of them.

Looking for TAB for "To Drive the Cold Winter Away"

Dulcimer Resources:TABS/Books/websites/DVDs

Rob- this is Joe Hamilton here. I just sent you a friend request. I thought we were connected already but then again, when it comes to computer stuff, I'm far from the sharpest tool in the shed. If memory serves me, Will Ackerman did a cover of this song. Anyway, I'd sure like the tab as well. Thanks. BTW-you were lookin/soundin good at Hindman. Sure was nice of Jim to capture and share all that he did.

Anyone else find themselves just noodling around on dulcimer?

General mountain dulcimer or music discussions

Yep-all the time. Watch TV with it on my lap and mute/play during commercial breaks. Get hours of noodling in this way. Unless I happen to be watching PBS. Also, the captions are very nice; mute, watch, play, repeat. Drives the Mrs. crazy.
