Update:  the luthier who fixed my McSpadden is interested in this project.  We're meeting with her on Saturday.  And our favorite all-purpose contractor is contacting his favorite woodworkers to see if they might be interested.  I'm aware that some woodworkers include luthier work as part of their portfolio.

I hope you're all doing well.

I play music with a Korean colleague who performs on (and teaches) gayageum, a Korean zither that is similar to the Japanese koto (in case you're more familiar with that instrument).  She has a grant to commission student models.

I've attached a photo of a full size gayageum, a student model, and a sheet of A4 paper (about the size of an 81/2x11).

Is anyone out there or do you know anyone who might be interested in such a project?  I don't think the instruments need to be ornate, like the one in the photo, just functional.  My colleague speculates that building them in the US would be cheaper than shipping them from Korea.

The gayageum is a wonderful instrument.  There are plenty of examples on YouTube.  It blends nicely with mountain dulcimer.
