The Crooked Road Dulcimer Festival is held on the campus of Ferrum College, Ferrum, VA. The dulcimer festival was the result of a mountain dulcimer exhibition of 50 historic instruments at the Blue Ridge Institute & Museum in 2012. The focus is on the mountain dulcimer, a bowed dulcimer class and this year there is a how to play the spoons. There is a wide variety of classes on Friday which are repeated on Saturday. There are two special presentations given to all participants. This year is Don Pedi's "From the Folk Scene to Traditional Appalachian Music" and Roddy Moore, Blue Ridge Institute & Museum director, "Historic Mountain Dulcimers" See some historic dulcimers and antecedents to the dulcimer. Dulcimer orchestra, concerts and jamming add to the fun. Marsha Harris, the festival director, has coordinated another year of wonderful teachers offering class levels for beginners to advanced. The teachers this year include Nancy Galambush, Jeff Furman, Joe Collins, Ken Bloom. Phyllis Gaskins, Jim Gaskins, Ben Seymour, Becky Cleland, Stephen Seifert, Carol Walker and Don Pedi.
