I'm a jack of all trades when it comes to music--I play mandolin, octave mandolin, guitar, Highland pipes, Border pipes, Fireside pipes, djembe, doumbek, bodhran, autoharp. I toy with recorders (soprano and alto) and tin whistles.
Clearly you can surmise that Celtic is my preferred style, particularly Scottish pipe music.
I picked up a Smith-Bourquin-Smith 1977 MD a couple of years back as a gift and have been playing it for the past couple of months, enjoying it. My family also tolerates it compared to the pipes, sadly.
For now I'm just focusing on learning the basics--chords, arpeggios, and the fretboard.
In the rest of my life, I'm a Clinical Director at a group private psychotherapy practice, am married with two kids in college, and I have 5 pets. We live in the Philly suburbs.
Thanks!
Hi Nate, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.
