Sound posts or not
It could have been that in my dreams that I read, you would never use sound posts like the ones employed in violins when making MD's
Now I have two sets of mountain dulcimer plans in my workshop both of which do not have sound posts.
However I came across this drawing of a J. Edward Thomas dulcimer from 1913, on a luthiers web site.
The luthier indicates that the drawing is from the October-December 1970 issue of the Journal of American Folklore.
The interesting part for me is that the drawing shows that two sound posts were used back then.
Have any of you good people had experience of including sound posts in your instruments.
