Singing With the dulcimer can be fun.

A beginning student of mine wants to play the dulcimer while she sings nursery rhymes to her grandchild. I have written the fret numbers on a small 3" by 4" cards that she can place on top of the dulcimer to aid her in this. Another suggestion, since she loves to sing, is that she sing the melody to such songs as Down In The Valley, or Skip To My Lou, while playing the harmony part on the dulcimer. Perhaps some of you have other ideas of how to encourage singing with the dulcimer?
