Buying my first instrument..

Hi,

I'm looking to buy my first official Appalachian dulcimer. I already play old-time banjo and I'm just looking to expand my horizons. What should I be looking for in a first instrument? I've already contacted a Canadian luthier about building me one, using the basic specs : https://www.midnightspecial.ca/instruments-for-sale

Will this be okay for my current needs? For now, I'm looking to play some more "old-time" music, although I'm sure that I will branch out sooner or later.
