Buying my wife a Dulcimer - string gauges question
My wife has watched me learn the mountain dulcimer for the last week and decided to try mine out. She has never played a stringed instrument but loved the sound. Mine is too big for her, so naturally I ordered a smaller one from Germany for her to learn on. She has tiny hands.
It is a DADD teardrop dulcimer with a shorter fretboard so the scale length is 24 1/4”. Will it use the same replacement strings in DADD tuning, or will I need different gauges for hers because of the shorter scale?
