1/2" Walnut Dowel Rod

Does anyone have or can get 1/2" diameter walnut dowel rod? I can't find it here in the UK and I need about 6" of it for a project. I need to drill and plug a headstock and then re-drill and ream it for new pegs. 1/2" diameter walnut dowel rod would be perfect. I've seen it advertised on US wood supliers web sites but not here in the UK. Most want you to buy yards of the stuff and then charge a fortune for shipping - whereas I just need 6" or 2 x 4" lengths to the job
