Hi Wildcat, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer.  It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.

Ben

Wildcat, the best way to introduce yourself is go to Forums at the top of the page. Click on Discussions, General Interest etc. The second item under that should be "Introduce Yourself." You can do so there. You need to join discussions in order to post in them. Look for the "Join" button which is on the upper right (I think).

I'm glad you'll be going to the Dulcimer Association of Albany festival. I was going to go but had to reschedule cataract surgery for February 27 and I won't be cleared to drive at that point. Have fun at the festival. It should be a good time.

My apologies to everyone,  I'm not sure I'm answering / posting properly. Apparently I've duplicated posts and added to a another's original post. I'd like to introduce myself, proper forum etiquette, but I'm not sure how. I'm using my cell, perhaps I'd be better on my laptop...? I was a longtime forum member of several pipe and tobacco forums and they were all different.  I'm sure I'll get it, but any advice is welcome!

Thank you Richard. Yes I have a lot to learn, including navigating the forum, haha! I'll get there and yes, I'll be asking a lot of questions! Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome to FOTMD, Wildcat. There is a dulcimer festival in early March near Albany which would be a great place to learn about dulcimers. You can probably try a few and ask questions of builders. You can also ask questions here. I look forward to your participation here.

I'm planning on attending the Albany event Ken, I found the Festival in my research. Interested in beginner workshops. March is close at hand and I'd like to attend with a dulcimer in tow. Any recommendations on an entry level instrument? Most seem to be in the $150ish range. I would like to upgrade, but baby steps first! Thanks for the welcome sir!
