Great to hear that you're teaching yourself to play - and that you're trying to sing appalachian songs with it.
We're meeting in Bristol this Sunday 12-4pm and one of the "classes" will be about old-style playing on a few appalachian songs. If you're able to join us, you'd be very welcome. If not, perhaps we can offer some help when you need it - just give us a shout.
HI ! As you work through this site you will come to realise that there is no one shape for a dulcimer, tho' some may be more common than others ! I have made instruments which look almost the same as yours, and you are right to be appreciative of its sound ! Thanks for friend invite !
Hi Amanda, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.
Amanda ! I turn my back for a couple of hours and return to find that you have joined our group (UK and European) !!! A hearty welcome to you, I hope that you are able to get something from this very friendly site, if only the knowledge of where you might find like minded people ! (good meet of dulcimers and their owners in Bristol this coming Sunday, I know just a bit far !) What dulcimer do you have?
Hello and welcome to the site. This is a great place to listen to music and share ideas. I hope you enjoy!
Howdy and welcome to the FOTMD family!
