This song was inspired by time spent at Great Grandma (Mamaw) Ratliff's house with my dad and my sister and our cousins. Great times! I remember the train track nearby, and great grandma's big front porch. Dad really did use to walk the train trestle, but it scared me - lol! Mamaw had a great blackberry patch and a beautiful garden. In this video, I'm playing my newly acquired Jack Ferguson mountain dulcimer, run through my little Roland Cube amp. I hope you enjoy it, and thank you for listening! Song is ©️2024 Carol L Hatfield

The train rolls right past Mamaw’s house
windin’ its way between
hills and houses and the bubblin’ crick
and gardens summery green

Mamaw’s standin’ on the big front porch
wavin’ as it clatters by
jawin’ with family, havin’ a laugh
see the sparkle in her eye

The train is headed to the trestle bridge
a mile up in the air
Daddy used to walk it all on foot
but I would never dare

You’ll find me in the blackberry patch
I’ll be wavin’, too
whistlin’, singin’, happy as a lark
‘neath the sky a-shinin’ blue

When’ll that train be rollin’ back around?
I just cannot say
but I’ll be here, and Mamaw, too
to see it on its way

The train rolls right past Mamaw’s house

See her wavin’ on the big front porch
