Flowers of the Forest

Artist: Chris Hornby
Genre: Traditional Scottish
Duration: 00:03:55

Description:
As the Appalachian dulcimer and the bagpipes come from the same traditional genre of droned instruments I have often wondered how they would sound together. So here is my effort playing a baritone dulcimer tuned to Bb F Bb and the technopipes which are a VST electronic "bagpipe" using samples from real Highland Pipes. I hope you like it. The Flowers of the Forest is a Scottish Lament mourning the dead of the Battle of Culloden. You may have heard different versions of the tune but that is always the way with traditional stuff.

I like your version of this tune, Chris! As an aside, this tune is mentioned in Eric Bogle's song, "The Green Fields of France".

I have never before heard this lament-- what a somber and beautiful tune!  Nicely done, Chris.
