Sounds like a good idea, as you can see the slots on the soundboard are crude, but they had to learn to use the coping saw and the slots would be covered up by fretboard. We used doorskin for the tops sides and bottom. the front and back are 3/4 poplar angled at 5 1/2 degrees, the same with the braces. Also hollowed out the fretboards.
