Yes, Finale is so overpriced! Coda Software was the original company and they sold it to Make Music. Under Coda, a great software product was developed, more than a decade ago, called Guitar. It was Inexpensive and capable for many stringed instruments. We would use so little of what is in the mega-capable Finale software, making the expense not worth the purchase (try for the education discount). The new owner moved the capabilities of the Guitar program into Finale. Way overkill, plus a huge learning curve! The price increase was about 500%, greatly increasing their profit margin. I've spoken with the company and Finale is the only software they make that gives the tablature options we need. PrintMusic and their other products will not give dulcimer players the needed options
When TablEdit was developed and made affordable, dulcimers players ran to it. I find it very limiting, so have no interest in purchasing it. I have seen so few who can produce good music/tablature with it. We need another software developer to give us more options!

Hello and welcome to the site. This is a great place to share ideas and listen to music. I hope you enjoy!
Welcome, Larua, to this little corner of dulcimer heaven. As a classical guitarist too, I find the dulcimer (fretted) a relaxing change of pace. And, some of the repetoire translated to it very nicely. Hope you enjoy it here.

Hey Laura, welcome aboard. Glad ya found us.
Hi Laura, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn and exchange ideas about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.
