Steve and I live in the NC mountains, near Boone. We love playing music, and are so happy that we can teach and perform around the country, meeting great people in "Dulcimerland" and making music with wonderful folks!
I am known most for playing the hammered dulcimer, but also perform and teach mountain dulcimer. I particularly enjoy the portability and easy tuning of the mountain dulcimer! ;-) Most of all, the mountain dulcimer is wonderful for playing the great old mountain tunes of the Appalachians, where we live.
My Steve Smith is NOT either of the mountain dulcimer players or tab-writers known in the dulcimer community. My Steve is a great song-writer, guitar player and banjo player. He's especially great on the ukulele! We lived in HI for 15 years, so he has a great feel and repertoire for the instrument.

Hi Steve and Ruth, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. it's a good place to come, spend some time, learn and exchange ideas about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people. Sorry I missed you earlier, but I was in New Brunswick for an observation of Remembrance Day in which school children had studied about a fallen Veteran from World War I, and my cousin was one of those so honored.
