I have never so much as touched a dulcimer thus far.. but; I very much want to learn to play. I am starting out on the first steps of my journey by trying to gather information, and to hopefully learn what not to do before I do it..."
I am (was) a piper, but, after an emergency major open abdominal surgery, and a follow up surgery (2020), the internal abdominal pressure that piping creates prevents me from playing any longer (unless I acquire bellows blown smallpipes, perhaps), and I miss just making music. Unfortunately, I will be susceptible to injuries due to that type of pressure life long, so... that is that.
@Benjamin-w-barr-jr: I am happy to be here! Thank you for the welcome!

Hi Teddy, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.

Hey Teddy, welcome aboard. Glad ya found us.
Thank you very much. I am literally taking my very first step by joining this forum. I am sure that once I have gleaned enough information to actually have the ability to form cogent questions, I will have many... at the moment, I am simply taking it all in.
Welcome Teddy Hart to Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. Glad you joined. Being new to the dulcimer if you have questions we will be glad to help. Let us know how we can help. This is a great place to learn and make new dulcimer friends.
